The OroTox Test investigates metabolic products of bacteria from infections

The OroTox test investigates metabolic products of bacteria within the crevicular (crevice, or space between tooth and gum) fluid surrounding endodontically (root-canal) treated teeth. Bacteria that may be harbored within these teeth exude waste products that are released from pores (dentinal tubules) within these teeth into the crevice that may cause infections elsewhere in the body.

With the OroTox test there is now a method to reliably determine whether there are toxins in these areas. The best investigated toxic substances are reactive sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and methyl mercaptan (CH3SH)*. These products can stress the immune system in that they inhibit and block enzymes which are necessary for our metabolism. The consequences can be irreversible tooth and systemic health damage.
